Rivet Replacement Bolt
Because a lot of force is applied by the straps, occasionally the rivet attaching the strap or buckle to the brace can break. With each brace we provide a ‘Rivet Replacement Kit that includes two bolts and two nuts so you can replace the rivet with the bolt & nut and continue to use the brace..
To re-attach the strap/buckle to the brace:
- Remove any remnants of the rivet from the brace
- Place the bolt through the small hole where the rivet used to be from the inside of the brace
- Place the strap/buckle over the bolt
- Apply the small nut onto the end of the bolt
- Tighten the nut with pliers (you may also need to use a small Phillips screwdriver to prevent the bolt from rotating)
Buckle Replacement
Occasionally, the metal D ring can break leaving the cloth part of the buckle attached to the brace. To replace a broken buckle requires removing the cloth section so that a new buckle can be attached.
Tools Required: Drill with 1/8″ (3mm) drill bit or pincer pliers
You can either pull off the chafe by twisting it off with pincer pliers OR drill the rivet out by drilling through the center of the rivet, Once you have drilled all the way through, you may need to use the pliers to pull the buckle from the brace. Then proceed with attaching the new buckle as described above
